The Category Management Project aims to develop and implement category planning across social care and support services commissioned by Hampshire County Council.

The expected benefits of category planning include improved value for money and a more sustainable market

Category planning provides a mechanism through which Hampshire County Council can use its purchasing powers to drive up providers' equality & diversity standards.

With an aim to develop a more diverse market that is responsive to local needs, it will also provide a vehicle through which the capacity of User Led Organisations and Black & Minority Ethnic groups can be developed.

Conclusion

Category planning provides a mechanism through which Hampshire County Council can use its purchasing powers to drive up providers' equality & diversity standards.

With an aim to develop a more diverse market that is responsive to local needs, it will also provide a vehicle through which the capacity of User Led Organisations and Black & Minority Ethnic groups can be developed.
