SIMS Seminars 2013: Data for School Improvement
Hampshire IT and the Hampshire Inspection and Advisory Service (HIAS) are hosting the annual SIMS Seminars in March.
This year the theme of the sessions is different. Schools hold a wealth of data in their management information system and now the SIMS Seminars are your opportunity to learn how to use that information to drive school improvement. Attendance at the seminar will also provide a Continuing Professional Development opportunity.
These half day seminars will give headteachers, senior and middle leaders, admin officers and SIMS managers a clearer view of how management information can optimise data analyses, develop effective interventions, and support parental engagement.
In March 2012, Ofsted recognised the impact of effective data analysis, noting “A rigorous tracking system and effective data analysis aids leaders in closely monitoring pupils’ progress to ensure increasingly careful targeting of support to address any slowing down in pupil achievement.” Sue Savory, County ICT Inspector/Advisor, will identify the information that Ofsted will be looking at on Raiseonline. She will show how you can use SIMS to demonstrate that your pupils are progressing faster than in previous years.
We will also include updates on new SIMS developments and the roll out of Discover to SIMS Hosted schools. Members of the Hampshire IT SIMS team will be available to answer your general day to day SIMS queries.
To accommodate a wider audience, up to three colleagues from your school may attend at no charge.
Please see the programmes below - they are the the same for the AM and PM sessions. Book your place now!
