Information for Developers

The County Council produces a range of information for developers detailing the expected standards required when designing and constructing roads, be it within a housing development or a single driveway access onto the adjacent highway.

Movement Access Streets and Spaces

This document provides guidance on the design of residential areas and covers sustainability, layout, parking, maintenance and adoption, vehicles speeds and traffic calming, travel choice, crime reduction and mobility.  It also provides guidance on specifications for materials and landscaping.

Highway Construction Standard Details

The Highway Construction Details are a set of drawings which detail how elements of any highways are to be built if they are to be adopted by the County Council as the Highway Authority.  The drawings are accompanied by a set of guidance notes which provide additional guidance to engineers regarding the use of the details and the various options available. Traffic Signal Controlled Junctions

To assist developers in submitting appropriate drawings, typical layouts of preliminary and detail design drawings can be found by following this Link. These show level of information required at A1 and A3 size for both design check stages.
