Accessible services and information
In order to ensure our services are accessible to everyone we will on request:
- provide information in a different language
- provide information in formats such as easy read, braille, large print, audio CD, British Sigh Language signed video
- provide foreign or sign language interpreters for meetings.
We will also ensure that our buildings meet disability access guidelines.
Culturally Appropriate Care guide
This guide is aimed at front line care professionals in Hampshire and outlines the cultural needs of the existing communities of the area. The principles of culturally appropriate care are:
- avoid discrimination
- be open about cultural diversity
- avoid stereotyping
- communicate well
Gypsy and Traveller communities wellbeing
There is a long history of Gypsy and Traveller communities living, working and travelling in Hampshire and Hampshire County Council is committed to working in partnership with other agencies to improve their health and wellbeing.
Hampshire Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS)
EMTAS works in schools to support the needs of children from Traveller backgrounds, including Gypsy, Roma, Travellers of Irish Heritage, Showmen, Circus and New Travellers.
Hampshire Inclusion and Engagement
The Inclusion and Engagement Team works with both communities and service providers and aims to bridge the gaos between services and traditionally exculded communitiues in Hampshire.
