Corporate Equalities Employment Policy
11. Comments and complaints
The County Council will take seriously and will deal effectively with all complaints of discrimination on grounds of race, ethnic or national origin, disability, age, gender, marital status, sexuality or responsibility for dependents. Anyone who makes a complaint or who gives evidence will not be victimised, treated less favourably than other employees or otherwise treated as if they are over-sensitive about discrimination. The County Council welcomes comments about its equalities policy and practices.
Grievances by employees arising from this policy will be dealt with using the existing County Council grievance procedure.
Nothing in the procedures for dealing with comments, complaints or grievances about breaches of the corporate equalities employment policy shall limit or affect the statutory rights of a complainant.
Any breach of this policy will be considered under the County Council's disciplinary procedure.
The Director of Human Resources will report to the County Council annually on the numbers of and types of comments, complaints and grievances received and the degree to which the operation of these procedures is satisfactory.
