Investing in the future
In 2008/09, we will spend:
£101 million on school building and other Children’s Services projects including continuing work on new and replacement primary schools in Andover and Elvetham Heath, and the next phase of a programme to establish children’s centres across the county.
£29 million will be spent on capital repairs of schools and other buildings.
£48 million will be spent improving Hampshire’s local transport, and on the structural maintenance of roads and footways.
£1 million will be invested in improving libraries in Hampshire as part of the Community Libraries Programme.
Work will continue on the major £40 million scheme to refurbish Ashburton Court in Winchester, with the first phase now completed and open for use.
Over £1 million will also be spent on improving residential homes and day centres.
