Investing in the future
In 2006/07, we will spend £95 million on school building and other Children’s Services projects including starting work on four new and replacement primary schools in Whiteley, Hedge End and Farnborough, a replacement special school in Havant and new and replacement education centres in Basingstoke and Waterlooville.
£50 million will be spent improving Hampshire’s local transport and on the structural maintenance of roads and footways.
The annual programme of £1 million for improving local Household Waste Recycling Centres will continue.
Work will also continue on the new Winchester Discovery Centre.
A start will be made on the major £40 million scheme to refurbish Ashburton Court in Winchester.
