In 2004/05, we will spend £84m on school building projects, including improvements in education facilities at our secondary schools, at Fernhill, the Wildern School at Hedge End, Test Valley, Brookfield, Priestlands, the Wyvern, and Eggars School in Alton. We will spend £32m on social care projects including the provision of nursing care accommodation, and £64m to improve transport, roads and the environment throughout Hampshire. We will also invest in recreation and heritage facilities to make them more attractive for users. Overall our capital spending in 2004/05 will be £202m.

In 2003/04, we completed the new secondary school for special needs pupils at Lankhills in Winchester, the Visitor Centre at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, the new primary school at Elvetham Heath and the new library at Alton, which is due to be completed shortly.
