The County Council has a number of special responsibilities relating to food.
Trading Standards protect the food chain from farm to fork by promoting and enforcing food and agriculture safety laws, and animal health and welfare standards. Consumer Advice | Business Advice
Our Catering Services(HC3S) provide over 10 million meals per annum to schools, residential homes and staff restaurants.
The Economic Development Office promotes local foods through Hampshire Fare and Farmers Markets.
There is a Healthy Eating Campaign called Food - the choice is yours.
Hampshire Scientific Service carries out around 80,000 tests each year to check the nutritional quality and bacteria levels of foods.
We support the Healthy Schools initiative and the 5-a-day campaign to encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables.
The Council promotes a precautionary policy on use of Genetically Modified Foods.
