Books and Reading at Gosport Discovery Centre

We add regularly to our new titles and have an extensive stock of lending and reference books, along with a wide range of electronic resources. You can check the books and other materials we hold on our Catalogue, where you can also reserve books online.

The Fast Back service
Multiple copies of the most popular fiction and non fiction best sellers  Our fiction books and biographies are on the ground floor, including large print and audio books, where you can also relax over a selection of newspapers and magazines. Lending, reference books and journals are in convenient subject areas, such as careers and education, business, law, government, and statistics, military, music, computers and there are also specialist collections such as the Local Studies Collection and the Hampshire Naval Collection

Books in other languages are on the mezzanine alongside language learning packs, and there is also a collection of Essential Skills resources in our Skills for Life collection on the ground floor.

Families will love the Children's Library on the ground floor, while teenagers have their own area, the t-zone on the first floor.

Better services
If you're in a hurry, the self-issue express check-out to issue books using a simple key pad, and return them later at the fast drop-off point. You can also use the Easy Returns service. Usually anything you borrow can be returned to any Hampshire County Council library or Discovery Centre, at no extra charge.
