Question 2a Contact details
Provide contact details for the applying organisation. This needs to be the organisation who is responsible for administering and accounting for any grant awarded.
Question 3 Your Organisation
Please tick the appropriate boxes adding registration numbers if applicable. Please include your Ofsted URN in the Ofsted Registration box and add your DfE Early Years URN number in the box next to “other”.
Your Project (Questions 7 – 10)
Question 7 Title of Project
Please try to be as brief as possible. For example, name of your project – ‘Equipment’
Question 8a Summary of your project
Please use this section to briefly describe what you propose to use the grant for.
Question 8b Details of your project
Please give full details of your project. This should be reflected in the detail of the cost estimates/quotes provided where appropriate. Include brief details of any equipment/fixtures and fittings to be purchased.
Question 8c Project outcomes
Please give details why you are requesting the grant and how it will improve your facilities and benefit your users. Include as appropriate (examples are not exhaustive): how many additional 2 year old places or hours per week you are offering as a result of the grant, or indicate how items purchased for example will meet the learning outcomes for 2 year old children, improve the quality of your provision.
Question 8d How you involved service users in the development of your project
Please tell us how you have consulted with your local community, children’s centre(s) and support agencies with regards to the works you plan to do. How do you know that service users want/need this and that you are the best placed to provide this ? Here you can tell us about any feedback you have received.
Question 9 Project dates and frequency
Give the estimated start and finish dates of the project. Please note that we do not fund retrospectively. Under frequency you can put one-off project.
Finance (Questions 11 – 15)
Question 11 Financial reserves
“Unrestricted” and “undesignated” funds means funding you have available that is not required to be used for specific purposes i.e. they are “free” from restriction. In your last set of audited accounts did your organisation have reserves? If yes, please detail these here.
Question 12 Cost detail
Give the full estimated costs of your project and include any VAT costs that are not recoverable.
Please note that any grant awarded in principle will be based on the costs quoted in this form which must be supported by 3 quotes / estimates for works by appropriate contractors if relevant.
Projects cannot be funded in retrospect and hence should not be started until any funding is approved.
If the final project costs are less than quoted, a proportionate reduction in grant funding will be applied.
Question 13 Income
Please give information on all sources of funding for this project, stating clearly whether funding has been confirmed or in progress and when the decision is expected.
Question 14a Project finance summary
A summary of the projects income and expenditure will be automatically calculated using your responses to questions 12 and 13 (online application form only). Please detail how much you are requesting remembering the criteria detailed above.
Question 14b How the project will be sustainable
Please confirm how any additional costs (maintenance, increase in utility bills etc) will be met by the organisation.

We are not looking for comprehensive policies – just some bullet points, for example: thorough training; information sessions, staff guidebook etc. In addition to information about your policies and procedures please outline how the aims of your project will contribute towards a, b, and c.

Documentation to be submitted
You only need to send the same document once over 12 month period. If you have sent us your documents in the last 12 months please tell us the grant type and reference number to which they were attached if possible.
We would appreciate electronic document attachments. If, however, you only have a paper copy please write this in the documentation section and send a paper copy to the grant administrator.
For all applications:
- Copy of your most recent audited/independently examined annual accounts
This information will help us to plan and fund areas of work where there are significant gaps and needs. If you need to collect this information from your staff or service users then it is important that you give them a choice as to whether they choose to give this personal information.
