The Great Hall and Round Table, Winchester

Visitor information

Opening times

  • Open all year round, 10am to 5pm (except Christmas and Boxing day)
  • Closed on occasions for civic functions

Closures

  • Queen Eleanor's Garden is closed whilst restoration work is carried out on the external wall of the Great Hall. It will reopen during the summer.

Admission is Free

Donations towards the upkeep and running of the Great Hall are gratefully accepted. We suggest a donation of a minimum of £2 per head - or of £1 per head for group bookings.

By Train

The Great Hall is a 10 minute walk from Winchester Station.

By Car

Tower Street car park is a 5 minute walk from the Great Hall.

By Coach

There are two Coach set-down points at either end of the city. The drop off point at Sussex Street is a 5 minute walk from the Great Hall. Waiting is limited to 20 minutes. There is a coach park for longer stays at Worthy Lane. The parking charge is £6 per coach per day, or part thereof. The Winchester Parking Office can be contacted via 01962 848346 if prior arrangement is required.

 

There is ramped access to the Great Hall and Queen Eleanor's Garden. Visitors may ring for assistance at the entrance to the Hall and gift shop. There is seating for visitors in the Hall and Garden.

The gift shop and wheelchair accessible toilet with a baby changing unit are on the 1st floor via a stone staircase. Wheelchair users can access this floor by using a lift in an adjacent building – please see the custodian or ring the bell on the display board for assistance.

Guide and Assistance dogs are welcome.
