Notice to River Users 14 of 2008
Oyster Dredging within the River Hamble Harbour
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that from 2 January 2008 until 28 February 2008 dredging for oysters will continue in the main entrance channels of the Harbour. During that period six local fishing boats are issued a licence to dredge for oysters within the confines of the Harbour.
Fishing boats dredging for oysters will display the shapes and lights indicating ‘Engaged in Trawling’.
All fishing vessels will monitor VHF Channel 68, ‘Hamble Harbour Radio’.
Masters should keep a sharp lookout for fishing vessels from Hamble Point Buoy to the area of Stone Pier Yard, Warsash. Masters are reminded that the manoeuvring capabilities of fishing vessels with a trawl deployed are limited in their ability to manoeuvre, especially in confined channels. The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea apply.
Further information can be obtained from the Harbour Office at Warsash.
This notice is self cancelling on the 1 March 2008.
