Notice to River Users 28 of 2008

Hamble Week Fireworks and closure of the river

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Saturday 5 July 2008 at 2200hrs or soon thereafter a fireworks display will take place from a barge moored in the main channel upstream of mooring pile B19 and downstream from Hamble Town Quay.
  2. That from 2200hrs until approximately 2230hrs the River will be closed to all traffic from Hamble Quay to Warsash Harbour Masters Jetty. Harbour Authority vessels will be directing small craft as appropriate and will maintain a safety zone around the fireworks display barge.
  3. It is an offence under the Merchant Shipping Act 1949 to discharge distress flares, rockets and pyrotechnics, except for the purpose for which they are intended.  Any person found to disregard this Notice, before, during or after the fireworks display, will be prosecuted.
  4. Careful watch and monitoring will be maintained by Hamble Radio on VHF Channel 68 with Police and other vessels assisting.

This Notice will be self-cancelling on the 6 July 2008
