Notice to River Users 34 of 2008

Harbour Masters Dinghy Race

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Sunday 20 July 2008 at 1300hrs until approximately 1500hrs or soon thereafter a dinghy race will be taking place in the main navigation channel. The race will commence at Warsash with a route taking it to Hamble and then to Mercury Marina returning to Warsash. A large number of dinghies will be taking part and all mariners should keep a sharp lookout.
Masters of vessels entering or departing the River should be prepared to take avoiding action. Masters of larger vessels are requested to remain out of the area until the racing fleet have departed. Commercial vessels will have restricted entry during these periods.
Dinghy sailors are reminded that the manoeuvring capabilities of large vessels are limited and should be taken into account, especially in confined channels. The International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea do apply and should be fully complied with.
A Harbour Authority patrol boats and safety RIB’s from the yacht club’s will be in attendance.
