Working with local communities to improve countryside access for all

Hampshire Paths Partnership

The Hampshire Paths Partnership (HPP) provides local communities, voluntary groups and individuals with the opportunity to help improve the condition of  the rights of way network in their local area. HPP projects can include anything from clearing overgrown vegetation along a bridleway to improving the surface of muddy footpath.

Tools, training and leadership are provided to allow applicants and volunteers to undertake project work-days safely and effectively and funding towards the cost of projects can also be applied for through the scheme.

Volunteer working is at the core of the Hampshire Paths Partnership scheme and as such we can offer great opportunities for personal development, community involvement and team working. The scheme also ultimately improves the rights of way network and as an added bonus, working in the countryside is pretty good too!

Typical projects HPP gets involved with include

  • Replacing a stile with a kissing gate
  • Vegetation clearance along an overgrown right of way
  • Resurfacing a muddy footpath

In the past we have also assisted in a variety of other projects including the installation of boardwalks and countryside benches. We are happy to listen to ideas for other types of work to improve rights of way.
