Barbecues

We have two barbecue sites that are available from 1 April to October for families and organised groups. You may hire the grills from 12 noon until 6 pm any day of the week.

NB The barbecue grills are not available in the evening.

As the barbecues are very popular you are recommended to check availability by phoning the park office on 023 8089 9108. All bookings received will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

The large Lepe barbecue grill can accommodate groups of up to 60 people. For the period you have booked you get exclusive use of the large charcoal grill situated in a large, open, dog-free barbecue area with picnic tables. It is close to open grassland areas, which are ideal for games, and is only a short walk from the beach.

We have a second smaller grill ideal for families or small groups up to 12. This is within the cliff top car park in a fenced dog–free area with picnic tables, not far from the children’s play area and other facilities.

You will be met on site by one of the Country Park staff who will show you the location of the toilets. The large barbecue is at the far end of the Solent View (Top) Car Park, the small one is nearer the entrance.

Payment must be in advance either cash, cheque payable to Hampshire County Council or by Credit Card.

You can pay at the Park Office, by telephone 023 80899108 or post to Administration Officer, Lepe Country Park, Lepe, Exbury, Southampton, Hampshire SO45 1AD .

Your own food and charcoal (usually 5 kilos of charcoal for 50 people). We recommend UK lumpwood charcoal as it lights easily, lasts for a long time and does not give off fumes.

Disposable barbeques are not allowed

Please read all the following conditions:

The person who signs the attached form will be deemed to be held responsible for the site during the hire period.
The use of Gas bottles and other fires are not permitted.
Do not douse the fire when you leave, as this makes cleaning difficult.
Only charcoal is to be burnt.
Loud music must not be played - amplified music is not permitted.
Alcoholic drinks can only be sold except by prior agreement with the site manager and the licensing authorities.
No charge can be levied for entry to the barbecue site or adjoining areas.
The site must be left clean and tidy, failure to do this will result in a charge being made against the organiser.
The County Council does not accept liability for any loss or damage howsoever caused.
Group organisers must indemnify the County Council against any claims arising from this booking.
The organiser or his/her representative must be present within 30 minutes of the start time or the barbecue will be cancelled.
Bookings will remain provisional until full payment is received.
Installation and/or use of generators, bouncy castles etc. is at the discretion of the Site Manager and then only if agreed in advance.
The use of Sky Lanterns are prohibited at all Hampshire County Council sites.
Refunds can only be made if requested in writing at least one month in advance of the booking.
