Odiham Volunteers with great Moat-ivation
Earlier this year, members of Hampshire County Council, F.O.A.M ( Friends of Ancient Monuments) and a local Scout group all mucked in to tackle growing vegetation within the moat. The purpose - to redefine the moat as a feature and help maintain a valuable wetland habitat.
Although young ash and willow trees were removed, shelter, feeding and nesting grounds, for birds and mammals remain within the young and old trees along the moat banks. A total of six working days, between January and March were committed by our volunteers. Giving up their weekends, braving the cold and the rain and putting up with the mud.

Many thanks to everyone for their hard work, support and enthusiasm in looking after our local heritage!
