Small Grants Scheme projects

The Small Grants Scheme provides funding for improvements to countryside access and rights of way and/or conservation projects to benefit the habitat or species particularly important to a site.

  • Replacing/installing bridges
  • Producing mapboards or leaflets to encourage access to the countryside
  • Volunteer group support (e.g. tools, training, establishment)

Preference is given to practical improvements to rights of way and open access land.

Biodiversity

  • Mowing and removing grass, spreading green hay
  • Erecting fencing, putting in water troughs or transporting stock to site
  • Hedge planting and laying
  • Tree planting, pruning, thinning and coppicing
  • Pond creation, riverbank restoration, wetland management
  • Labour, equipment or professional fees
  • Volunteer group support (e.g. tools, training, establishment)
  • Interpretation panels about the above
