National Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre

Schools - Outreach

If you can't come to us - we'll come to you!

Many aspects of natural history can be covered within the school environment either in the classroom or in the school grounds.

The services of the Education Ranger can be employed for talks and activities at your school. Lesson plans can be tailor-made to your needs and can be adapted for different age groups and abilities. Rather than doing short talks at an assembly of the whole school, a series of longer sessions (up to 1 hour) with smaller groups (up to 60 children ) is preferred.

Garden Birds

Most schools with playing fields will have many of the common garden birds visiting the school grounds. The Garden Birds lesson plans were developed from a combination of requests from schools for general talks about common birds and things children can do in the school grounds or back at home to attract more birds.

Costs

For the Education Ranger to visit your school and conduct a talk or series of activities the fee including VAT is £57.50 for a half day and £92 for a full day. This includes pre-visits, preparation, travel and any materials used. Payment can be either cheque or invoice after the event.
