Bon Voyage for Testwood Families

boulogne

Testwood Sports College had a fun day introducing members of the community to Family Learning and FLLN courses, with a day trip to Boulogne and Cite Europe for parents and children.

The participants had a great experience visiting a beautiful French town and trying some of the local goodies, with certificates awarded to everyone who had a go at speaking some French.  To support this, the adults were invited to introductory classes a few days before the trip where they learned some key phrases and vocabulary as well as the itinerary for the day.  Not only did they pick up useful phrases and vocabulary for using in shops and cafés, they also experienced some online shopping using the Intermarche website.  A bottle of sparkling wine was purchased as a prize for the adult who wrote the best article or poem about the day.

we had a beret nice time!

We have found that gaining the adults’ trust will lead some learners on to our FLLN courses where they achieve Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy. The added benefit for families is the quality time parents get to spend with their children and for them to see how  they are able to learn together.
