Welcome

Autumn is a fantastic season; it brings change after the long, summer months and Hampshire’s countryside is transformed into a patchwork of stunning oranges and yellows. This edition of Hampshire Now also rings the changes. We look at the services offered by the county’s Registration Service — these services often mark life changing events, whether they be weddings or baby naming ceremonies. One man who has seen many changes during the course of his career is Raymond Blanc. We talk to him about his new business ventures in the county. The way we are able to change the lives of vulnerable adults is also examined in the article ‘It’s OK to say “No” to abuse!’.

Councillor Ken Thornber

For those interested in getting out into our beautiful countryside and exploring, our ‘Hampshire walks’ feature contains a stroll around Bishop’s Waltham. If the prospect of the nights drawing in means you would rather not brave the elements, why not learn about the Physic Garden at Petersfield in our regular ‘Hampshire history’ section while tucking into the warming sausage hotpot taken from Hampshire’s school meals menu?

Enjoy!

Councillor Ken Thornber, CBE, Leader of Hampshire County Council
