The Leaders project was an excellent opportunity to increase an individual managers understanding of the wider corporate objectives, whilst networking with other like minded professionals from across the organisation. It is essential that any manager embarking on the project is given a schedule of dates prior to signing up to ensure they do not conflict with pressures in the day to day role. The project we looked at gave an insight into a corporate initiative, that hopefully benefited from some fresh "outside the box" thinking.

Sharing ideas, thinking outside of the box (and being encouraged to!) Meeting new and interesting people, exploring new ways of problem solving, cross- departmental working, getting away from your day job, feeling part of something different/new Hearing other peoples views/problems/ideas, being listened to, feeling respected by others, gaining more knowledge about the organisation, Making new friends/work colleagues (networking), confidence building. There's probably more, but I can't think at the moment!

Working with others (especially in the RADICAL Group) to learn about other approaches and the County Council. However it was also good to take time away from the day job to think about my own performance

when asked what was the most useful part of the programme, a comment from the Future Leaders and Graduates evaluation survey.

The programme has been of benefit to me on a number of fronts. Firstly, I feel working in the RADICAL groups with individuals from very different areas of the Council have been most beneficial. I have gained a much better appreciation of the Counties role in society and service delivery, as well as, the future challenges that face the County. The RADICAL group was an excellent means of being able to build upon and practice the knowledge gained within the three modules. I have found the modules have gone alone way in refocusing my attention to various areas of my working life, such as, my relationship & interaction with subordinates & managers, developing & placing myself in a position to progress, and gaining a better understanding of how I fit into the County as a whole.

The chance to be one of Hampshire’s Own Grown is an amazing opportunity.  Teamwork is excellent and the modules are thought provoking, challenging and fun!  The programme has raised my understanding of the complexities of departmental partnerships to deliver the highest quality services.  I have had the opportunity to meet with Senior Members and Officers who have shared their knowledge and expertise.  HCC is pioneering an imaginative and creative way to support succession planning.
