Hantsweb Awards Winners 2007
Best Public Services Website, sponsored by EPI-USE
Isle of Wight - Winner

"A very good, crisp site. The top navigation was well thought through, e.g. someone's role (visiting, living, working or learning). Just the right amount of graphics. Good use of forums, just need to take care that they are well supervised and nice to see the CE with a Blog. The My Profile section will encourage users back once fully developed. The online services section is comprehensive (although do you need to open up additional windows when they are not external links/secure sections?). Good to have links to Central Gov/ National services online - makes it more likely for return vists. Would benefit from an Authenication solution like the Gov Gateway too. Would also consider raising profile of privacy statement and policy throughout."

Portsmouth City Council - Runner up

"Generally a very good, clean site and easy on the eye. Consistent, straightforward to navigate and accessible in all the right ways. The banner is very inviting with a setting sun. Would benefit from more services on line with Authentication from a reputable source, like the Government Gateway increases confidence in the user. Overall the menus and links are a little confusing in places as there are so many on each page. Search was good and would benefit from colloquial find e.g "'Getting rid' of a wasps nest" see how www.yell.co.uk deals with it. Might want to try "About Portsmouth Council" instead of "Your Council" to see if it gets more views."

Rushmoor Borough Council - Runner up

"Generally a very good, clean site. Consistent and straight forward to navigate - good to have the Listen function. Search was good and would benefit from colloquial find. Popular pages are good to have provided they are dynamic. Would benefit from more services on line with Authentication from a reputable source, like the Government Gateway. Do it Online is a great section although wasted some time clicking through to simply get to an external site. Has website stats which many do not."
