John Coughlan's secondment to Haringey Council now extended

Councillor Ken Thornber, Leader of Hampshire County Council, said: "Hampshire County Council has agreed a request from the Department for Children, Schools and Families for the Director of Children's Services in Hampshire, John Coughlan, to extend his secondment to Haringey Council and undertake a temporary role as Director of Children's Services at the council where he will oversee the transition to a new management structure. This follows the review of child protection procedures at Haringey following the tragic death of 'Baby P'.

The Chief Executive and I were happy to agree this request. Hampshire is pleased to be able to offer support to another local authority. While seconded to Haringey John Coughlan will continue in his role as Director of Children's Services in Hampshire.

We are sure people will understand that neither the County Council nor John will offer any further comment."
