Fifth Customer Service Award for Hampshire’s Governor Services
Governor Services in Hampshire have received a national award for the fifth time in a row.
The department, run by Hampshire County Council, has been awarded the Customer Services Excellence Certificate from the Government Cabinet Office.
Governor Services provides recruitment, information, advice, support and training services to governing bodies and their clerks for schools, children’s centres and education centres to enable them to fulfil their responsibilities effectively.
Hampshire has more than 500 governing bodies with around 7,500 governors who play a crucial role in the strategic direction of schools, representing the interests of the general public in the way a school is run and the educational standards that pupils achieve.
All governors are volunteers
All governors are volunteers from a variety of backgrounds working together with the head teachers and centre managers to make strategic decisions affecting the lives of more than 200,000 children and young people in Hampshire.
They play a crucial role in the effective management of educational establishments, representing the interests of the general public in the way they are run and contributing positively towards the outcomes of pupils.
