More classrooms mean more places at Bramley Primary School

Hampshire County Council has agreed building design plans for the refurbishment and extension of Bramley Controlled CE Primary School.

At his Decision Day (10 July 2012), Leader of Hampshire County Council and Executive Member for Policy and Resources, Councillor Ken Thornber approved the design of the £1.6million project that will provide extra places at the school.

An extra five classrooms will be built to support increased capacity at the school as the demand for school places increases in the area. The primary school currently has 420 places, but this will now increase to 525 when the work is complete. Plans also include refurbishment for additional teaching and learning facilities and a larger staff room.

Building work is expected to start early in 2013 and complete during the summer.

Councillor Thornber said:

"The extension of Bramley Primary School will allow it to take on more pupils in response to a growing local population. The project, which represents a significant investment by the County Council, will provide youngsters with new and improved facilities."
