County Council starts environmental surveys to inform Fareham and Gosport schemes
Monday, 14 April 2014
Hampshire County Council is carrying out environmental surveys in the Fareham area to help inform the further development of transport measures to improve access to Fareham and Gosport.
The proposed schemes being developed include the Stubbington Bypass, Peel Common roundabout, Newgate Lane, and sections of the A27 Corridor.
Councillor Seán Woodward, Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment at Hampshire County Council, said: "We're carrying out these surveys to help us better understand the environment in the wider local area, especially in terms of the local ecology, habitats, and the presence of protected species such as bats, dormice and newts . The results of these surveys will help us to shape the improvement schemes and any environmental mitigation measures that may be needed."
The surveys will be undertaken over non-residential land from early April 2014 to March 2015 to fit in with the hibernation and breeding seasons of local wildlife. Local landowners and occupiers are being notified.
