Funding boost secured for Community Safety Trust

A Hampshire-based trust dedicated to protecting vulnerable residents has received a financial boost from Hampshire County Council.

At his Decision Day (13 June 2012), Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Ken Thornber, awarded funding of £5,000 to the Blue Lamp Trust for their work within the community.

The trust, launched in 1998, provides security and peace of mind for Hampshire's elderly and vulnerable residents by introducing measures in their homes to reduce the risk of crime and fire.

The funding will go towards the trust's Bobby Scheme, which works to improve security in homes by fitting locks, spy-holes or door chains. The scheme also provides support to victims of burglary and domestic violence.

Councillor Thornber, said:

"The Blue Lamp Trust carries out very important work to help make vulnerable people feel safer and we fully support their efforts to help build safer communities, and reduce crime and the fear of crime across Hampshire. Working in partnership with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and the police, they ensure vulnerable residents are safe within their homes and are provided with support if they need it."
