Welcoming The Olympic Torch at Royal Victoria Country Park

Royal Victoria Country Park will be celebrating in style by offering an afternoon of family fun as the Olympic Torch passes along Southampton Water.
Olympic Fun For All!
The Country Park, which is run by Hampshire County Council, will be hosting a range of free activities and events on 14 July 2012 for the whole family to enjoy. There will be the opportunity to try a variety of sports that can be enjoyed in the countryside, including running, cycling, Tai Chi, climbing and even Nordic Walking, as well as street dance, games, competitions and a funfair to keep youngsters occupied.

Events will start at 12.00pm and will continue until 6.00pm when the torch will sail by. The torch will be transported by ferry, across from the Isle Of Wight, through Southampton Water to dock in the city centre where it will continue on its leg through Hampshire.
People will have the unique opportunity to witness the ferry pass by the Country Park, surrounded by a flotilla of boats.
Hampshire County Council's Executive Member for Culture and Recreation, Councillor Keith Chapman, said: "London 2012 is such a huge event for our country, and Hampshire is honoured to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The celebration at Royal Victoria Country Park will be a great chance for Hampshire residents to embrace the Olympic spirit and try something new."
