Redlands Lane resurfaced as part of Operation Resilience
Friday, 28 September 2012
Redlands Lane in Fareham is being resurfaced as part of Hampshire County Council's planned maintenance programme Operation Resilience, with work scheduled to last for eight days from Sunday 30 September.
Now in its second year, Hampshire County Council's 'Operation Resilience' programme is continuing to target 350 separate sites on roads and pavements throughout the county. The programme, which has a budget of £17 million for 2012/13, is a long-term investment that represents a shift away from reactive to planned maintenance, an approach which is not only more cost effective but also ensures that roads remain in good condition for longer.
Local residents benefit from Redlands improvements
The improvements to the Redlands Lane area are part of this countywide programme and will provide real benefits to local residents, pedestrians and road users. Councillor Mel Kendal Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Transport and Environment, said:
"Hampshire's road network is vital for our local economy and has to cope with more extreme weather conditions and ever increasing traffic. The work in Redlands Lane is part of our commitment to improve Hampshire's roads so they are more resilient to extreme weather and increasing traffic and represent good value for money for all road users.
We appreciate works of this nature will cause some delay to road users but would ask for your patience and understanding. We are programming the works in order to minimise disruption to all affected parties by utilising quieter weekend periods."
Residents in the area have been informed of the work and updates will be available on yellow sign boards. Further sources of information are: hants.gov.uk/transport, twitter.com/hantsconnect or 0845 603 5633.
