Community Buildings benefit from cash injection

Community associations throughout Hampshire are set to benefit from £20,437 thanks to grants from Hampshire County Council.

At his Decision Day (5 December 2012), Executive Member for Culture and Recreation, Councillor Keith Chapman awarded grants to seven community organisations in the current financial year.

Village halls and community associations give residents the opportunity to participate in a range of local activities and initiatives.

This latest round of funding will be used for a number of projects and improvements to help the organisations better meet the needs of their local communities, including building refurbishment, double glazing and facility upgrades.

Councillor Keith Chapman, said: "Community organisations are vital in providing local people with a range of services that benefit the whole community. These grants can help facilitate activities and events to bring together people of all ages.

"Hampshire County Council's contributions help to safeguard the future of these groups, ensure they can continue their valuable work and maintain their equipment and facilities."
