County Council hands out more than £75,000 to village halls and community associations

Six community associations and village halls across the county will benefit from grants approved by Hampshire County Council's Executive Member for Culture, Recreation and Countryside.

At his Decision Day on 20 January 2014, Councillor Keith Chapman awarded grants totalling £75,030 for a variety of projects including building improvement and repair work, boiler replacements and refurbishments.

The full breakdown of grant funding is as follows -

Bursledon Village Hall, Eastleigh - £4,720
Church of the Holy Ascension Hyde with Ibsley, New Forest - £20,000
Clanville Coronation Hall, Test Valley - £5,400
Copythorne Parish Hall, New Forest - £7,000
Liss Community Association, East Hampshire - £16,910
Waltham Chase Village Hall, Winchester - £21,000

TOTAL - £75,030

Councillor Chapman said: "Village halls and community associations are a valuable asset in every local area and vital in providing an activity hub that brings together local people of all ages.

"The County Council's contributions enable improvements to be made to their buildings, equipment and facilities, which helps to ensure that they continue their valuable work within the community."
