Village Halls to benefit in Gosport and Havant
Monday, 10 March 2014
A community association in Gosport, and a village hall in Havant will benefit from grants approved by Hampshire County Council's Executive Member for Culture, Recreation and Countryside.
At his Decision Day on Thursday 6 March 2014, Councillor Keith Chapman awarded £620 to Bridgemary, Rowner and Woodcot Community Association, and £2,480 to Empower Global for refurbishment works.
Bridgemary, Rowner and Woodcot Community Association will put the money towards the decoration of the toilets, main hall and kitchen.
Empower Global will spend the money on the Empower Centre, in Botley Drive, Havant. The cash will go towards the refurbishment/rebuilding of a community kitchen, and the equipping of a community Hall in the Empower Centre. The organisation has recently purchased the Centre for use as a community building.
Cllr Chapman said: "Village halls and community associations are a valuable asset in every local area, and vital in providing an activity hub that brings together local people of all ages.
"The County Council's contributions enable improvements to be made to buildings, equipment and facilities, which helps to ensure that they continue their valuable work within the community."
