Guide provides help and advice to live independently
Tuesday, 15 April 2014
The latest definitive Guide to Better Care and Support, which provides information and advice to help the elderly and disabled stay as independent as possible, is now available from Hampshire County Council.
For those needing advice and support to manage their everyday life at home, the annual Guide to Better Care and Support explains who to contact and lists care providers throughout Hampshire. It also provides practical information on all aspects of independent living, including: health matters, finance and funding, travel and transport as well as advice and information for carers.
Hampshire County Council's Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health Councillor Liz Fairhurst, said: "Today we are not only living longer but many of us are remaining healthier and more active. When the time comes that you need a little extra support it can be daunting and time consuming working out what help is available and what will best suit your needs.
"The Guide to Better Care and Support has been developed to make the whole process easier. It offers pointers on what to consider when looking for home care services, as well as providing useful information on a variety of topics that will help people to remain living as independently as possible for as long as possible, such as where to get help with day to day tasks and making homes safer through the use of the right equipment. If you know someone who needs guidance and information about living independently in their own home or moving to alternative accommodation then this guide is an essential read."
