It's Foster Care Fortnight

Monday, 12 May 2014

Hampshire Fostercare are looking for real people, people like you, to become foster carers.

Yes, it's a big challenge providing a child with the care and the home life they might otherwise miss out on but, as all foster carers will tell you, it's also one of the most positive and rewarding experiences you could have.

You don't need to own your own home or have a lot of money. You just need to have a spare room, time, patience and love.

Fostering means providing a caring and safe environment for a child during times when, for whatever reason, their own family is unable to look after them. This could be for a few days, a few months or several years.

Many children return to their parents, leaving foster carers with a real sense of achievement and in most cases the care has helped to reunite a family, now that's what we call rewarding!

Hampshire County Council Fostering Service has a range of fostering opportunities available. They offer excellent training and support during the process of becoming a foster carer and after carers are successfully approved. There is always help and support available 24 hours a day. So if you think you might have what it takes to be a foster carer they'd love to hear from you.
