Request for pavement repairs to Victoria Road, Farnborough
Response from Hampshire County Council, March 2013
Officers from the local highways office inspected the footways identified in the petition and arranged for a number of defects to be repaired. They noted that the general condition of the footways has deteriorated over time as would be expected, and that further remedial measures are likely to be required from time to time to repair defects arising from winter freezing and other weather related or general damage. The local highways officers carry out routine inspections and will arrange for identified defects to be repaired. They will additionally respond to problems reported by members of the public between scheduled inspections. If you would like to report a specific defect I recommend that you telephone the County Council's contact centre, Hants Direct, on 0845 6035633.
In common with a number of other locations, the footways here would certainly benefit from being resurfaced. The County Council has provided additional funding, initially to repair the extensive damage caused by successive bad winters, and more recently to make other surfaces more resilient to the weather we are increasingly experiencing. Locations are prioritised based on their relative condition so that those in the worst condition are repaired first. Other locations are added to the list of potential improvement sites for later years' programmes. Victoria Road is not scheduled for resurfacing in 2013/14, but will be added to the list of schemes for prioritisation in a subsequent year. I cannot say when it may be resurfaced as it will be subject to funding and other priorities prevailing at the time.
