Widening of Newgate Lane, Fareham

Response from Hampshire County Council, March 2013

Thank you for your letter and enclosed petition received on 17 January 2013 concerning the widening of Newgate Lane, Fareham. I have now had the opportunity to consider the points raised.

The petition and its requests are noted by the County Council. The Newgate Lane scheme is currently at a preliminary stage of development. A preferred route alignment and junctions option will be published by the County Council during late Spring or early Summer 2013 for consultation with local residents and other stakeholders. The County Council is grateful to the residents for raising their concerns and is currently investigating these through the preliminary design process.

The consultation will include a public exhibition held locally and there will be advanced publicity to notify interested parties. However, in view of your interest, as expressed through organising the petition, I will ensure that you receive direct notification of the consultation arrangements.
