Who are the Chairman and Vice-chairman of Hampshire County Council?

Who is a Member of  Hampshire County Council's Cabinet?
Members of the Cabinet are listed on our Leader and Cabinet page in the County Councillor section.

How can I find out which Councillors are on a particular Committee?
There is a list of committees within our County Council Membership information, select the link for the committee you are interested in to find out who is on that particular Committee?

Who do I contact about road problems (e.g. pot holes, street lights or a verge that needs cutting)?
You can report road problems online , or if you wish to telephone, please call 0845 603 5633

My dustbin hasn't been emptied. Who do I contact?
Refuse collection and recycling is the responsibility of the district councils.  You can find which council covers your area by carrying out a postcode search.

How do I find out about 'rights of way'?
Information on rural footpaths, bridleways, byways and roads used as public paths can be obtained by contacting the Arts Countryside and Community Department on telephone number 01962 846045 or by sending an e-mail to accsmm@hants.gov.uk

Where will I find information on cycle paths?
The Information Centres have a variety of leaflets and maps full of information. Our web site has pages available on cycling too.

I have been told that I will need to get planning permission for changes that I would like to make to my property. Who do I contact for more information?
Your local district council is responsible for all planning applications. Contact them direct.

I am staying in London, can I visit Hampshire easily?
The London station that serves this area is Waterloo and the motorway that runs through Hampshire from London is the M3. There is much more information on travel and transport together with Discovering Hampshire on Hantsweb.

Where can I stay in Hampshire?

Is there any way that I can find out what events will be taking place during my stay?
Our web site has a list of What's on in Hampshire where you will be able to find events listed by location, date and type of event. There is even a form for people to submit the information on their own event.

How can I get information on travelling around Hampshire using public transport?
The Passenger Transport Group produces bus and train timetable information on our web site. You can also contact them direct by sending an e-mail to: ptgenquiries@hants.gov.uk

I need a bus pass, where do I apply?
To apply for older person's bus pass you will need to contact your local district council. If it is a student bus pass that is required, contact the Passenger Transport Officer by sending an e-mail to: ptgenquiries@hants.gov.uk

I need some advice from Trading Standards. How do I contact them?
You may find the advice you are looking for is already shown on the Trading Standards web pages. If you need specific advice, contact their advisory service by sending an e-mail to: rsadvice@hants.gov.uk or by telephoning 08454 04 05 06

When are the schools holidays for this school year?
The Education department has a large website where the school term dates are available.

Where will I find OFSTED reports ?
You can get a copy from the school, local library or from the Ofsted website.

Where will I find a list of Register Offices or premises that are licensed for marriage ceremonies?
The Hampshire Registration Service is part of the County's Regulatory Services Department and their web pages have a list of Register offices throughout the county together with opening times. A list of approved premises where marriages can take place is also listed.

Where can I join a library?
You can apply online to join a library or visit the  Library web pages, where the address of each of the County's Libraries with opening times and contact information can be found.

Are inspection reports on residential homes available to the public?
The details of each registered residential home in Hampshire is included on Adult Services web pages.  You can obtain inspection reports from the Care Quality Commission website

Is there a list of 'holiday playschemes' and childminders in my area?
There is a large amount of Childcare information available in Hantsweb including after school clubs, registered playgroups and pre-schools.

I would like to join a club or support group. Where will I find a list of clubs and societies in Hampshire?
e.VOLve  is the interactive website providing an online directory of voluntary and community organisations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

I would like to contact my local County Councillor but I don't know how.
Each Hampshire County Councillor has their own Hantsweb page which gives their contact information including an e-mail address. Some pages show a photograph of the Councillor.

Where can I see the detail of the Electoral Roll?
Each District Council in Hampshire has a copy of that council's Electoral Roll. Some of Hampshire's larger Libraries hold a copy of the Electoral Roll for their area and you will need to contact the Library direct for confirmation.

How does Hampshire County Council deal with complaints from the public?

I don't have a PC or an Internet connection at home. Is there somewhere in Hampshire that I can access the World Wide Web?
Yes, there is free public access to the Internet available from the all the County's Libraries.  For more information please go to the People's Network website.
