We are a group of key museums and archives in the Hampshire and Solent area of South-Central England. We have been working together in areas relating to our collections, the stories they tell, and the audiences who use us, so that as partners we can add value to what we already achieve individually.
Our vision is “To champion the innovation and excellence of the diverse cultural heritage in the Hampshire and Solent area for the enjoyment and benefit of the public”.
Each of us has selected some of the most interesting and quirky items from our fascinating and diverse collections for Heritage100, so that, for the first time, they can be seen all together in one place.
An important part of Heritage100 is to provide people with the opportunity to contribute their own comments, ideas and stories about items on the website. We are running a number of outreach events across the region to bring the objects to a wider audience. Contributions from the people who attend these events will be added to Heritage100 so that visitors to the site can see the items through their eyes.
This project has been fully funded through Renaissance funds by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, and by the Arts Council England.
