'Allsorts' of Dinosaurs

Marshmallow Dinosaur

...Neoventator, a 7 metre long meat-eating dinosaur!

A number of marshmallow dinosaurs were made by the Cool Time Club (an after school club) in Ryde on the Isle of Wight and were extinct by the end of the session. They were eaten almost as quickly as they were made.

The children were inspired by one of the Heritage100 items, the vertebrae or backbone of a Neovenator, a 7 metre long meat-eating dinosaur!

Details

  • First discovered eroding out of the cliffs of the Isle of Wight in the mid 1970's, Neovenator was only identifitied 20 years later, after considerable research by Steve Hutt, as a new species.
  • Neovenator would once have prowled the mud-plains of the southern half of the Island around 125 million years ago.
