Making car mascots at Beaulieu

Which of the mascots would you have on your car?

Ladies belonging to the Women's Institute in the New Forest and ladies who had previously taken part in the Swap Shop tour (featured elsewhere in the "Taking Part") were given a tour around the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.

Duly inspired by what they saw, the ladies then took part in a craft session in which they made their own car mascots.

Watch this short film to find out how they got on, or click on the 'Gallery'.

Details

  • The creative ladies involved in the mascot workshop made some imaginative mascots including a dragonfly, a silver fox, a blue whale and even H.M. The Queen! There was also an unidentified insect, a swan and a black rabbit. These were then placed in position on vintage cars in the museum, as shown in the film.
  • Do find a moment to look at our own Heritage100 item, the Chrysis Mascot in 'Related items'.
