Sir Harold Hillier Gardens

Before you visit

We have provided sample letters for you to give to parents and helpers.

Please provide children with a large name label in waterproof ink.

Please help us make sure you have a good visit by adhering to our behaviour policy statement.

Risk assessment guidance

We are a Hampshire County Council facility and operate within the County’s rigorous Health and Safety policy.

We will give you a copy of our risk assessments during your pre-visit. These assessments are not available online or by email.

You are also required to do your own risk assessments, taking into account any specific needs that your group may have.

You will receive a briefing on arrival to remind you and your group of key safety information.

All our staff and vounteers have enhanced level CRB. We have been approved by Learning Outside the Classroom which recognises high quality education combining the essential elements of learning and safety.

First Aid

There is always a First Aider on site but you are expected to bring your own first aid cover.

Please report any incidents, however minor, to a member of staff.

Mobile phones may not work well in all areas of the grounds, but there are landlines in case of emergency.

Gardens staff should be easily identifiable as most carry radios and wear uniform with the Gardens’ logo.

Insurance

Hampshire County Council's insurance covers LEA schools. Non-Hampshire LEA schools must check their own insurance arrangements.

It is recommended that you have insurance to cover risk of accident, illness or loss of personal possessions and cancellation.

Hampshire County Council only accepts liability for loss, damage or injury resulting from negligence by the County Council, its servants or agents. Certificate and synopsis available on-line:
