Hampshire Woodwind Festival, January - April 2016

Our woodwind team have put their weight behind a great offer for woodwind players still in full-time education at school or college.

Hampshire Woodwind Festival 2016

Four separate 'Instrument Days' feed into The Big Woodwind event at the end of April, where all participants can showcase and celebrate not only the diversity and popularity of the woodwind family, but also all the skills learned in the build up. Participants are expected to attend one or more of the 'Instrument Days' across Hampshire. before attending The Big Woodwind Event.
The dates are as follows :

- Sunday, 31 January : Clarinet and Saxophone Day (Grade/Stage 5+)

- Sunday, 7 February: Double Reed Day (Grade/Stage 4+)

- Sunday, 20 March: Flute Day (Grade/Stage 5+)

- Sunday, 17 April: Woodwind Playing Day (Grade/Stage 1+)

- Sunday, 24 April: The Big Woodwind Event

Heart FM breakfast presenters ask for our help!

We've been having to keep this one a secret, but now the guinea pigs have learned of their fate - we can share the exciting news with you all! Hampshire Music Service teach Heart FM breakfast presenters, Rich and Zoe, ukulele and trumpet!

Heart FM got in touch before Christmas about 'treating' their presenters with a challenge of a NEW SKILL for NEW YEAR. Rich to learn ukulele and Zoe to learn the trumpet! Lessons started today - to hear how they get on, listen to Heart Breakfast (South Coast) 96.7-975FM and visit their website soon to see clips of the lesson...

New Guitar Ensembles launching in Eastleigh and Basingstoke

The first acoustic guitar ensembles are being launched this October, at no cost to members for the first academic year.

Guitar Ensembles 2015

Eastleigh Guitar Ensemble
Venue: Thornden Hall, Thornden School, Chandler's Ford
Rehearsal: Mondays during term time, 5.30 - 6.30pm (launched 5 October)

Basingstoke Guitar Ensemble
Venue, Queen Mary's College, Basingstoke
Rehearsal: Fridays during term time, 5 - 6pm (launching 16 October)

If you are interested in coming to these ensembles, then please get in touch in advance so we can warn the tutor, before you attend a rehearsal session.
