Introduction

This service provides an easy-to-use template-based system, helping you produce and maintain a professional-looking website without the need for any web design skills.

It is an alternative to our standard web hosting service, and is available to schools that have an internet services contract with Hampshire County Council but who don't yet have a website. The main features include:

• The ability to change the colour scheme of the site

• Pre-laid out pages suggesting recommended content

• Automatically generated A to Z menu and site map pages

• Visitor counter

• Different levels of updater to allow approval of pages before publishing

• Comprehensive user guide

• Support available by completing the online form

• Online community of users through our dedicated mailing list

Access to your site for updating is possible from any location whether at school or at home, providing your computer's web browser meets the minimum specifications. Full details are in the user guide, and a simple compatibility test is available to assist.

Applying for a new site

To apply for a new site for your school please use the online form.

If your school already has a website and you are interested in the new service, please register your interest using the application form and we will contact you to discuss.

How to create and maintain your site

The online user guide provides comprehensive instructions for using the Schools Website Service and also contains a Frequently Asked Questions section.

You can also print the user guide to use as a checklist.

Support

The user guide should provide all of the assistance required but if you still require help please email edicthelp@hants.gov.uk with details of the problem. An hour of support by telephone and email is included with the service.

We also recommend that you sign up to the dedicate mailing list for the service. This will allow you to share ideas and questions with other schools using the service and we will also use the list to advise of updates to the user guide and any other useful information for users. Membership of the list is free of charge.
