Domesday "Rochesburna", a stony stream, which runs through the village of Rockbourne and adds to the attractive picture of thatch, brick and timber, gave its name to the village and Parish, and is now known as Sweatfords Water.
It runs into the Avon just North of Fordingbridge. The Roman Villa at West Park, just South of the village, the remains of which were discovered in 1894, brings many visitors to Rockbourne, but the village is worth seeing for its own sake.
Further information on attractions to discover in the area and other interesting villages to visit is available. For information on public services for Rockbourne please take a look at the Fordingbridge local pages.
