Shanklin on the South-East of the Island shares the same bay as neighbouring Sandown and is also the terminus for the unique electric railway which runs from Ryde Pier.
The old village of Shanklin nestles at the lower end of the High Street and has many quaint thatched cottages , tea rooms and gift shops. Superb sea and woodland views can be seen further down from Rylstone gardens and is said to be the most picturesque in Southern England. The gentle shelving beach provides excellent swimming.
