The Corporate Strategy is Hampshire County Council’s statement of how we intend to respond to changes and challenges. It identifies common aims with partners and sets priorities and real targets for improvement.

The strategy is divided into three key priorities with the overarching aim of ‘developing the quality of life for everyone’.  The switchboard team supports these aims and in doing so state that:

We are here to help members of the public gain easy and friendly telephone access to all services and departments offered by Hampshire County Council

  • We aim to answer your telephone call within 10 seconds

  • We aim to provide a professional service and respond in a confident and cheerful manner

  • We aim to transfer your call to the correct person or department or to give you the information you need to contact them direct

We are keen to improve our service – please help us by giving us your views and suggestions.  We recognise that sometimes things can go wrong and we have procedures to deal with complaints.

 

The number of calls we have received over the last three years varies between 240000 and 270000 per year.

The percentage of calls answered in under 10 seconds has increased yearly from 97% to 97.9%.  The reason for 2% to 3% loss being attributed to technical problems at times and times where the volume of calls surpasses the capacity of our resources

The number of calls that go unanswered averages around 5.5% and this has also been attributed to times of technical failure and times of high call volumes beyond resource capacity.

Our target for answering calls in under 10 seconds remains at 97%
