Good Communications Awards 2008The introduction of new technology such as 'Thin Client' computing has been key to Hampshire County Council's green IT approach. The system relies on a central server for processing instead of individual PCs, which saves 792,000 kWh a year. With a typical home using 4,400 kWh per year, enough energy is now being saved to power 180 homes. Other benefits include reduced support costs and travel, with 22,000 fewer miles travelled by staff last year, a longer life span for equipment, and lower energy bills - all saving Hampshire tax payers nearly £1m a year. Hampshire's IT Services is commended in the IT Project Innovation category. |

ISO 20000 accreditation -2008IT Services has gained ISO 20000 accreditation the international standard for IT service management. This is an important achievement resulting from a great deal of hard work from many people over the last 18 months. Every part of IT Services’ activities has been reviewed by three external audits. Accreditation will enable us to deliver improved IT performance, develop services more efficiently and work with departments to continuously improve the way we respond to the Council's needs. The County Council is the first in the country to achieve this recognition. |

Government Computing BT Awards 2005Hampshire County Council's occupational therapy service OT Direct has won a prestigious national award for innovation in e-Government and use of technology, winning the Best Project - Government to Citizen category. The awards recognise the best and most innovative work in e-Government, and the County Council was one of seven category winners from a record 118 entries. |
