Our landscape planning and management team work in partnership to ensure that the special character that makes Hampshire such an attractive place is conserved. You can find out more on the Planning and Management of Hampshire's Landscapes pages.

As Hampshire’s communities develop, they accommodate change whilst protecting established character. The urban design programmes support this through schemes, conserving and enhancing the character of country towns, villages and older urban areas. Further information on these programmes is available from Improving Towns and Villages .

The Historic Environment is reflected in the landscape character, buildings and archaeological sites. A dedicated team maintains a record of what has survived from the past and provides advice on their care and protection.
